Doctoral Internship Program
We are so pleased that you are interested in the APA-accredited Doctoral internship program in health services psychology at the Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center. We recognize that many factors, both personal and professional, play a role in your choice of a site for this critical last year of your training. We sincerely hope that the information provided below will give you a glimpse into what you can expect from the training year at our Counseling Center.
The diverse staff members at the Counseling Center are enthusiastic about training and mentoring our interns and making your internship year as rich and fulfilling as we can. To this extent, every single member of the staff is part of and contributes to training through varied means. Our interns are involved in virtually every aspect of the work that we do and we place great value on their contribution to our center.
We strongly believe that the internship year should be a balance of support and challenge, and we make every effort to mentor the intern in a way that they can enhance their existing skills and learn new ones in their journey to becoming ethical professionals. There are myriad opportunities to learn and grow and our ‘open-door’ policy aims provide a supportive, yet challenging, environment within which this growth can occur.
