Student Group Spotlight: Remington Homework Club
On Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Central Baltimore Partnership recognized the Remington Homework Club for their outstanding work with the Church of the Guardian Angel and in our community! Read more below about this great student group.
Remington Homework Club works with community members and local churches to provide meals for children in our community. After volunteers prepare delicious meals for the kids, they pair up with students to help them with their homework. The volunteers also challenge the children academically by providing worksheets, playing board games, and doing arts and crafts with them! They’ve even incorporated science into the arts and crafts projects. This can vary from making lava lamps or bouncy balls to making Corner Critters (bookmarks). Most if not all of the students and their tutors participate. After finishing homework or an academic challenge, students are also free to play other games like foosball.
All volunteers in Remington Homework Club serve as a role model to all of its students while providing a positive, fun, and rewarding experience for both the tutors and students. Remington Homework Club strives to have consistent volunteers who are able to build a lasting relationship with their students which they feel is one of the keys to their success!
