2017 Academy Weeks: Nonprofit Week April 17-21

The Career Center focuses one week every year on key speakers, trainings and workshops for each of our Career Academies. Students, faculty, alumni and employers come together at these events to start conversation and help build pathways to success for JHU students.

Nonprofit Week, April 17-20

April 17: Exploring Nonprofit Careers Networking LunchNonprofit Career Week schedule
11 am to 1 pm, Charles Commons Salon C
Mara Winters, Board Governance Advisor at Maryland Nonprofits, discusses the benefits of
pursuing your passion and starting at a nonprofit. Employers, including United Way, will join
for a networking lunch with students.

April 18: Alumni Resume Reviews and Networking
5 pm, Charles Commons Salon A
Alumni and current students look over your resume and share how they used their community
experience at Hopkins to land careers in the nonprofit sector and beyond.

April 19: Role of Philanthropy in Nonprofits
5:30, Charles Commons Barber Conference Room
Managing finances, opportunities and working with donors are key parts of nonprofit careers that translate well to other sectors–learn from this expert session.

April 19: City Year Coffee Chat
12 pm, Gilman Atrium
Meet with City Year reps to find out if their programs–working with at-risk schools to help
bridge the gap for students–are a match for you.

April 20: Nonprofit Internship and Opportunity Fair
10 am to 2 pm, Glass Pavilion
There’s still time to find an internship or job! Come learn about current job, internship and
volunteer opportunities with Teach for America, United Way Maryland, Urban Teachers, City
Year, Saga Innovations, and more.

April 21: Center for Social Concern 25th Anniversary Event
4 to 6 pm, Glass Pavilion
Celebrating 25 years of community engagement together.
