Latoya Giles, LCSW-C

Mental Health Case Manager

Pronouns: she/her/hers

I joined The Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center in the Fall of 2018, as the Mental Health Case Manager. As the Clinical Case Manager, I coordinate and implement a variety of Counseling Center case management functions, including referral services to community providers, facilitation of student understanding and utilization of the student health insurance plan, post-hospitalization communication and arrangements for referrals, and the Counseling Center’s role in the University’s medical leave of absence process.

I earned my Bachelor of Science Social Work (BSW) Degree from Morgan State University in 2012. In 2013, I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree with a clinical concentration, specializing in families and children from The University of Maryland School of Social Work. I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker Clinical (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland, with professional experience working in the child welfare system. It has been my passion to provide clinical case management services to foster care youth and families to promote the achievement of child safety, permanence, and well-being. I am excited about my opportunity to now assist the students of JHU in achieving their academic and career goals, by ensuring that they maintain mental health stability and supports through Clinical Case Management Services at The Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends; attending church, where I serve on several ministries; co-hosting on a weekly broadcasted local Christian television show; reading; watching basketball games (Go Wizards!); and writing poetry.
