Lisa Chen, M.D.
I was born in China, grew up in Japan, finished middle school in Canada and graduated high school in Texas. Having interacted with people in very different cultures, I was very interested in the questions of the mind, identity, human behavior, and what gives us meaning.
I graduated Harvard University with a major in evolutionary biology and an interest in understanding of how the brain creates the mind. I attended medical school at Johns Hopkins University where I came to appreciate both how all-encompassing mental illness can be and how much difference psychiatric treatment can make. I was—and continue to be—in awe with psychiatry, and trained to become a psychiatrist at Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition to my work at the Counseling Center, I also have a private practice in Baltimore.
