Application & Selection Process
The application deadline for the 2018/2019 year is Friday, November 3, 2017, by midnight EST. The internship year will begin on Monday, August 6th, 2018 and end on Friday, August 3rd, 2019.
As a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC), only applications from APA and/or CPA accredited doctoral programs, submitted through the online portal, will be considered.
All applications must include:
- A cover letter which addresses the applicant’s interest in the JHU Counseling Center internship, expectations of the internship, and career goals.
- A Curriculum Vitae.
- Completed AAPI.
- All graduate transcripts.
- Three letters of recommendation from persons who are familiar with the applicant’s professional and/or academic performance (two of which should be from on-site clinical supervisors).
Applications will be reviewed by members of the Center’s training staff. Applicants will be informed by December 15, 2016, if they have been invited for an interview. On-site face-to-face interviews are highly preferred. Applicants schedule their own interview via Genbook.
We understand that for some applicants, the mounting costs of internship applications and travel may make an in-person interview nearly impossible. Thus we do offer interviews by video-conference and phone. Please note that applicants who choose to interview via video or tele-conferencing are given the same consideration as those who choose to interview on-site.
The Counseling Center internship participates in the computerized ranking system offered by National Matching Services.
IMPORTANT: As University employees, interns matched to our training program MUST complete a background check. Detailed information about this process is generally sent out shortly after the Match is announced (March/April). Even though you may be matched with us, your employment is contingent on you successfully clearing the check.
Qualifications of Applicants
Applicants must be enrolled in an APA-approved doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology. Prior to the start of the internship date, applicants should have successfully completed:
all required course work

500 AAPI intervention hours
