In her role, Dayna Geary reports to the SDS Director and supports the day-to-day functions of the office. She ensures timely and reasonable delivery of accommodations to students based on federal and institutional guidelines. She also serves as the Homewood campus Student Coordinator for the Workforce Recruitment Program, a federal program aimed to connect students with government job opportunities.
She brings over ten years of experience working in higher education and student support, including direct service to underserved student populations through federal TRIO programs, academic tutoring, and clinical mental health counseling.
She received her undergraduate degree in Human Services from York College of Pennsylvania, and has a graduate degree in Counseling from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania where she also served as a clinical faculty member at the University Counseling Center. She is a nationally-certified counselor since 2015.
Her professional interests include understanding disability as an aspect of diversity and service delivery through a social justice model. Additionally, she is interested in the role of changing technologies in creating access for students.
She is new to Baltimore and has been enjoying exploring the area with her husband and son during her free time. Her hobbies when not at work include reading, painting, spending time outdoors, and exercising.
