Background: Smiti has held leadership roles in organizations aimed at bettering the student experience through her 10+ years in higher education. Her interests focus on helping people translate their skills and experiences into a worthwhile next step. Her corporate experience includes being a geospatial analyst and team lead at a government contracting firm, as well performing user research and design thinking at a major optics firm in Germany. Smiti is an anthropologically trained archaeologist who employs scientific methods to understand past foodways in ancient Oman and Ethiopia. She holds a MSc in GIS and Spatial Analysis in Archaeology from University College London and a Ph.D. in Anthropology (Archaeology) from New York University. In her personal time, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and son, traveling, and blogging.
