Ms. Rezwana Zafar
Assistant Director, Leadership Development
Greetings community! I am excited to join the Office of Multicultural Affairs at JHU as the Assistant Director for Leadership Development. I am an immigrant from Bangladesh, and spent much of my childhood growing up in Queens, NY. There, I fell in love with food off the streets of Flushing and Woodside, and going for joyrides on my bicycle. As an undergraduate student of Stony Brook University, I learned about the power of community organizing and became an environmental justice activist. Eventually, I pursued my M.S. in Natural Resources at The University of Vermont, and as luck would have it, entered the world of student affairs. I met incredible people who were instrumental in my success as a young person of color so far away from home.
I am overjoyed to be at JHU and at the prospect of meeting incredible students here. In my current role, I will have oversight of the mentoring program (MAPP) and supporting the leadership efforts of our cultural student organizations. I will also serve as the direct advisor for the Female Leaders of Color (FLOC) student organization and co-advisor to the Multicultural Leadership Council (MLC). Stop by my office if you’d like to connect over tea or go for a walk!
