First-Year Mentors

New Students

Your First-Year Mentor, or FYM, is a current undergraduate student who will help guide you and approximately 15-20 other students through the whole of New Student Orientation and into your first year at Hopkins. They will help facilitate discussions about diversity and inclusion, academic advising, and staying healthy while living on campus. They were in the same shoes only a year or two ago, and they’re ready to answer any question you may have coming onto campus for the first time.

FYM Applications Now Closed

Applications to serve as a First-Year Mentor (FYM) for the academic year 2021-2022 are now closed.

First-Year Mentors are crucial to our program and the incoming student experience. We would love to have you join our team! Through our training program prior to Orientation, you will learn more about our institution and community while making meaningful relationships with other mentors. After training, you’ll be able to share your new knowledge and your personal experiences with our incoming first-year students.
