Pre-Orientation programs either begin on *Friday, August 17, 2018, OR *Wednesday, August 22 and ALL run through the following Friday, August 24. Students will be able to move-in to their residence halls.

Pre-Orientation is an opportunity for incoming first-year students to arrive early to campus and get connected with various programs before the regular orientation begins! The eight (8) programs are offered for either a 1-week or 2.5-day experience.
The four 1-week programs include Experiential Education’s Outdoor Pre-O, HopkinsCORPS, Habitat for Humanity, and HopkinsLEAD. Our 2.5-day programs include Film Culture in Baltimore, Baltimore and Entrepreneurship, Baltimore Theater: Behind the Scenes, and JHU Sustainability: EcO Pre-O. Registration for our Pre-Orientation programs are open as of May 1st and the priority application deadline is June 1st. We will continue accepting rolling applications after that date until the programs have filled.

Cost for each of the programs varies, but financial assistance is available to students demonstrating financial need. You will indicate on your registration form if you are in need of financial support in order to be able to participate.
Yes, there is is a limited amount funds available. To apply, please fill out the financial assistance section of the Pre-O registration form. Once we receive your registration we will review it, and contact you with your award amount.
Students are able to apply to up to three (3) programs. You will indicate on your registration form a rank order of preferences for the programs and will be notified of your status in June.
Students will be notified of their registration status in early June! Those who submit registration forms after June 1st will be considered on a rolling basis until the programs reach capacity.
Due to the design of the programs, students are only able to attend one Pre-O.
Yes, all new students at JHU participate in the regular Orientation.
Students participating in HopkinsLEAD, HopkinsCORPS, Habitat for Humanity, and Experiential Education’s Outdoor Pre-O will move in on Friday, August 17th, 2018. All students will be able to move into their residence hall for the academic year.
Students participating in Baltimore Theater: Behind the Scenes, Baltimore and Entrepreneurship, Film Culture in Baltimore, and JHU Sustainability: EcO Pre-O will move in on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018. All students will be able to move into their residence hall for the academic year.
Yes! For the programs moving in on Friday, August 17th, we will offer a Parent & Family Orientation program on Saturday, August 18h from 9am-3pm. For the programs moving on Wednesday, August 22nd, please stay tuned as these programs are new and we are working out the details for our Parent & Family Orientation program for them!
