Throughout late March and April, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosts events for the newly admitted members of the Johns Hopkins Class of 2022. The largest of these events, SOHOP (the Spring OpenHouse and Overnight Program), brought 725 students and their families to campus for two-day programs, held two consecutive weeks, where students toured campus, the residence halls, and the surrounding neighborhood; met current students, faculty members, and staff; spent the night in a residence hall with a current student; and sampled food from campus dining providers. SOHOP has become an annual tradition for admitted students, with over 500 current student volunteers participating and staff from across campus coming together to welcome the newest Blue Jays and their families. In addition to SOHOP, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions also holds daily programming for admitted students, seeing more than 300 students and their families so far in April; off-campus Admitted Student Receptions hosted by alumni or parents of current students across the country and internationally, which over 250 students have attended; and even virtual sessions, where nearly 60 admitted students have connected online with staff and current students.
