Nearly forty students participated in an immersive civic engagement program in January 2017 during our Intersession Alternative Breaks program. Students participated in three concurrent programs, on Urban Education, Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and HIV/AIDS in Baltimore, which were each facilitated by a pair of student co-leaders and a faculty instructor. Throughout the course of the week, students completed nearly 300 hours of service, attended site visits with a variety of nonprofit and government agencies, and explored several Baltimore neighborhoods.
