Application Status

We are accepting 2016-2017 applications until November 27, 2016.

Thank you for your interest in the Community Impact Internships Program!

Before you begin the application, be aware of the following:

  1. There are multiple short answer and essay questions (see below) that require thought, preparation, and planning. Unfortunately, once you begin your application, you do not have the ability to “save” it. We strongly encourage you to write your short answer and essay question responses in advance so you an easily “cut and paste” them into the application below.
    • To help you, please view the .doc version  Word Document: view .doc version of the application. You can draft and save all of your short  answer and essay question responses in this document until you are ready to complete and  submit the online application below.
  2. Peer Mentors will be leading a placement area team. See Placement Areas below. In the application, you will prioritize your placement area of choice that you would like to lead. We will do our best to match you with your priority placement area but cannot guarantee placements.

Peer mentors will be leading placement area teams. You will be expected to check-in with the interns working within this area weekly as well as bring pertinent events, news, articles, etc. to the attention of your team. By signing the application:

“I understand that the JHU Community Impact Internships Program takes place from June 5th (for the CIIP orientation) through August 4th, 2017. I will be able to work 40 hours/week (35 hours interning and 5 hours of team management) for the internship period and will not work an additional paid position. I understand that committing to this program will be my main priority for this summer and I may not be able to fit academic classes or test preparation into my summer schedule. Permission to enroll in classes during your internship period must be obtained from the CIIP Coordinator. Additionally, I will attend weekly evening reflection sessions and a closing session on August 5th. Peer mentors will also be asked to attend monthly meetings in the spring semester, assist in leading the CIIP Orientation and provide feedback in a post-CIIP meeting. In addition to my work during and leading up to the CIIP program, I understand that the CIIP peer mentor position runs from January to December of 2017 and that I will be asked to organize CIIP gatherings and information sessions during the Fall 2017 semester.”
