General

What is Splash?

Splash is a student-organized, educational outreach program that offers a variety of courses to high school students. The teachers, who are volunteer university students, teach courses on topics that they are passionate about.

How often does Splash run?

Splash occurs once each year.

How can I get more information about Splash?

You can create an account to receive email notifications as we prepare for this year’s Splash. You can also email jhusplash@gmail.com. And don’t forget to like our Splash at JHU’s Facebook page!

Splash Program

Can my sibling come to Splash?

Yes, if they are in grades 9-12. They can make their own account and register independently. However, we cannot guarantee that you can be in the same classes as you must register separately.

How can I confirm my registration?

You will receive a confirmation email once you register.

The class I want to take is full already. Is there a wait list/waiting list?

No, there is no wait list, but you can check with the sign-in table on the day of the program if any spaces have opened up!

Do I have to fill up all my class time slots? (a.k.a. Can I come in for just part of Splash?)

Not at all! Just sign up for classes that seem most interesting to you. If you do have an empty time slot, we ask that you stay within the designated lounge/game area, which will be in the same location as the sign in and information table. Come for as long or little as you would like. Just make sure to sign in and sign out with the sign-in table!

What should I bring?

Bring the required signed forms, program fee, and money for lunch and/or a t-shirt (if you have indicated in your registration form that you are purchasing them). We also recommend you bring paper/writing tool to take notes during classes!

How will lunch be run?

Pizza will be provided for registered students, or students may bring their own lunches. If you have any allergies or dietary concerns please email jhusplash@gmail.com.

Parents

Can I register my child for Splash?

No, students should independently complete their own registrations. JHU Splash relies on the enthusiasm and interests of participating students to run successfully. Students should make their own accounts to register and sign up for classes.

Can I sit in on classes?

Because Splash is primarily student-focused, we discourage parents from sitting in. We want our students to have a realistic classroom environment for learning about subjects that they have interest in. However, if there are extenuating circumstances, such as a learning disability, we will make the appropriate arrangements for your child. Contact us at jhusplash@gmail.com
