Student Transitions & Family Engagement

The Student Transitions and Family Engagement portfolio is responsible for the overall vision and execution for all programs designed to help students and families to not only transition to the university but also connect throughout their time at Johns Hopkins. Positioned within the Dean of Student Development, the Student Transitions and Family Engagement coordinates Homewood-wide efforts that are designed to strengthen the academic, personal, and social success of undergraduate students and their families, ranging from New Student Orientation, to Family Weekend, to the Second Year Garden party and beyond.

This portfolio includes the Office of First-Year Experience (OFYE), Second-Year Experience (SYE), Parent and Family Programs, and HopReach (the joint program sponsored by Student Life and Student Development, designed to create a safety net for students struggling with their experience at Hopkins which includes the Early Alert system). The Student Transitions and Family Engagement portfolio serves all 5,400 undergraduate students at the Homewood campus.
