Health and Wellness
Students can be quick to let their health fall to the wayside when they start college. The staff in the area of Health and Wellness are determined to change that narrative. We provide services that support to ensure a successful, well-rounded student. The Student Health and Wellness Center provides high quality, confidential health care to eligible students of the Homewood and Peabody campus communities with a staff of board certified physicians, nationally certified nurse practitioners, and others licensed professionals. The Center for Health Empowerment and Well-Being—CHEW for short—is the health promotion arm of the Student Health and Wellness Center. CHEW Provides health education programming and services to students to foster a healthier JHU community. The work of the Counseling Center facilitates the personal growth and development of students. Our counseling services and outreach programs are designed to enhance the personal and interpersonal development of students and to maximize their potential to benefit from the academic environment and experience. Two full-time case managers in the Office of the Dean of Student Life maintain high student contact and a caseload to address the needs of undergraduate students who have problems in areas such as physical or mental health, finances, discipline, and social adjustment that may affect their academic performance or other aspects of their JHU experience. By providing these services, our students are well equipped to succeed not only in the classroom, but also in their personal lives.
