Athletes AssistantPay Grade 1

Provide general assistance to the athletic department. Duties may include assisting with game preparation, recording statistical data, maintaining athletic equipment, laundering and issuing of athletic uniforms and/or equipment. Related tasks as assigned.

Clerical Assistant IPay Grade 1

Provide general office support. Duties include filing, sorting, maintaining records, providing information, running errands, operating basic office machines, and answering phones. No experience or previous training required.

Clerical Assistant IIPay Grade 2

In addition to Clerical Assistant I duties, must have moderate experience, technical knowledge, and/or previous training. Duties may include typing, data entry, word processing, etc. Limited supervision.

Clerical Assistant III/ Administrative Asst.Pay Grade 3

In addition to Clerical Assistant I and II duties, these positions require independent judgment and/or decision-making ability with little or no direct supervision. Must have substantial training or experience and possess the ability to perform leadership, organizational, and/or administrative tasks with a high level of competence.

Clerical Assistant IV/AdministratorPay Grade 4

In addition to Clerical Assistant III duties, these positions require advanced technical experience and/or extensive managerial expertise. Duties would involve administering special projects and/or
performing decision making on an administrative level with no direct supervision.

Computer ConsultantPay Grade 3

Duties include controlling the flow of work through a computer system, responding to user requests for operator services and assistance, training less experienced computer users, monitoring behavior of the computing system, reporting hardware and software problems as they arise, determining the source or cause of system problems and taking appropriate corrective action. Responsibilities may include analyzing, designing, and developing customized programs. Related tasks as assigned. Must be proficient in one or more operating systems and possess the ability to perform advanced operational functions and/or offer formal instruction. Requires independent judgment and/or decision-making ability with little or no direct supervision.

Computer ProgrammerPay Grade 4

Duties include developing and programming software for specific projects, designing and coding software components, units, and modules that meet specifications and development schedules, documenting, testing, and debugging components and units. Responsibilities may also involve developing test plans and performs unit, system and integrated testing. Use system knowledge and critical thinking to evaluate and resolve technical or procedural problems. Related tasks as assigned. Must have extensive knowledge and proficiency in computer programming languages (i.e. JAVA, Visual Basic, C++, or comparable programming and scripting languages), working knowledge of PCs, Macs, and UNIX workstations; and knowledge of UNIX and NT systems architectures; possess the ability to perform advanced operational functions and/or offer formal instruction. Requires independent judgment and/or decision-making ability with little or no direct supervision.

Concession OperatorPay Grade 2

Primary duties include the selling of programs and refreshments during athletic functions and other entertainment events. Good public relations skills and prior cashier experience may be required. Related tasks as assigned.

Data Entry AssistantPay Grade 2

Duties include data entry and data maintenance. Must be proficient with data entry and/or typing and possess a detailed knowledge of specific software programs. Applicants may be required to pass a typing and/or software programs test. Related tasks as assigned.

DriverPay Grade 3

Operates cars or light-to-medium trucks for delivery and/or to escort passengers. Duties include checking the condition and reporting the need for service of the vehicle operated. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, be able to read a street map, and have a general knowledge of the area surrounding the campus. Must also pass the defensive driving training course given by the Security Department (those who pass receive a certificate from the National Safety Council).

Laboratory TechnicianPay Grade 1 – 4

Responsibilities include cleaning and care of laboratory apparatus, general and routine care of specimens, and/or aid to other staff or personnel. May include some basic research work. Related tasks as assigned. Grade level based on the essential functions of the job and the level of skill and/or experience required. Be sure to list the essential functions and/or skills required for the job and clearly indicate the appropriate pay grade level.

Library Assistant IPay Grade 1 – 2

Provide general assistance within the MSE Library to patrons and staff. Duties include stock maintenance (shelving books, book repair, etc.), monitoring, and clerical work. Related tasks as assigned. Limited supervision.

Library Assistant IIPay Grade 3

In addition to the Library Assistant I duties, these positions require independent judgment and/or decision-making ability with little or no direct supervision. Substantial training and/or library experience necessary. Must be skilled in database management. May require knowledge of a second language. Related tasks as assigned.

Life GuardPay Grade 3

Primary function is to maintain a safe environment for water sport activities. Must meet all current certification requirements (CPR and WSI). Related tasks as assigned.

Manager/Supervisor IPay Grade 3 – 4

Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising other student employees. Duties may include monitoring daily activities and assisting with payroll, performance, and salary review.

Manager/Supervisor IIPay Grade 4

In addition to Manager/Supervisor I duties, these positions would involve decision making on an administrative level, conducting analysis, and/or determining strategy.

Research AssistantPay Grade 1 – 4

Responsibilities include compiling, classifying, tabulating, and recording data collected from special studies. Duties may include aiding in the analysis of research material and data. May assist in the writing and editing of research reports. Related tasks as assigned. Grade level based on the essential functions of the job and the level of skill and/or experience required. Be sure to list the essential functions and/or skills required for the job and clearly indicate the appropriate pay grade level.

Security MonitorPay Grade 2

Primary duties include patrol and reporting of all suspicious incidents concerning safety and security on campus. May include patrol of garages, parking lots, living centers, and athletic facilities as well as checking I.D.s, controlling access to assigned campus buildings, and providing walking escort service. Related tasks as assigned.

Student TutorPay Grade 3

Tutor individuals on specific subject matter in private sessions in area of their specialty. Tutors may be required to have received an “A” in the course or courses for which they plan to tutor. Related tasks as assigned. Grade level based on the essential functions of the job and the level of skills and/or experiences required.

Telemarketing AssistantPay Grade 2 – 3

Responsibilities may include talking to alumni, parents, and friends of the university on the telephone to raise financial support for the divisions of the university. Must have excellent communication skills. Fund-raising sales and public relations may be required. Related tasks as assigned.
