Before You Arrive
Wondering what you need to know in order to prepare for your arrival to campus in August? Be sure to review this page and the rest of our site for important information and updates. Don’t worry, though: Before big deadlines, you will receive reminders in the newsletter.
New Student Checklist
The New Student Checklist is your “one stop shop” for university resources and all tasks that must be completed prior to your arrival in August. This year, you can access the New Student Checklist through JHU Blackboard.
Newsletters are sent via email over the summer beginning in late May. These newsletters will include general updates and reminders about upcoming deadlines, along with resources to help you prepare for your arrival in August.
Be on the lookout for the First-Year Academic Guide mailed to your permanent address starting in early June.
Course registration will be on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 7:00 am EST. Be sure to fill out your advising profile (found in the New Student Checklist) prior to registration. The advising profile is available now. Feel free to contact your academic advisor with questions.
Class Banner Competition
Class banners are a tradition dating back to 1881. You may have seen them hanging in the Milton S. Eisenhower Library over the years. Leave a lasting legacy on Hopkins by designing your class banner! Learn more about the class banner competition on the Alumni Association website.
Summer Send-Off Parties
The Johns Hopkins Parents Programs & Giving Office is throwing a party in your honor! Attend a casual Student Send-off party to meet other incoming students and their parents, current students, local alumni, and staff. Please register to attend a send-off party.
We offer several Pre-Orientation programs during the week prior to New Student Orientation in August. We hope you consider applying!
New Student Move-In will be Friday, August 23, 2019 and Saturday, August 24, 2019. Transfer and International students are encouraged to move in on Thursday, August 22, 2019 to attend their supplemental programming. Pre-Orientation students will move in as specified by their Pre-O program.
