First-Gen Oral Stories

Description

The First-Generation Students Oral History Project consists of audio recordings and transcripts of oral history interviews recorded with graduating seniors at Johns Hopkins University who are the first in their families to attend college. Within these interviews, students’ names were kept private to encourage frank comments about their experiences.

The staff at Ferdinand Hamburger University Archives is committed to continuing to conduct these interviews each year to learn more about what it is like for first-generation college students at Hopkins. Our goal is to share these interviews more broadly so that incoming first-gen students can feel supported. The interviews can be accessed through the library website at the links below.
