Wednesday, November 12, 7–8pm ESTSupporting Your Blue Jay's Mental Health: Understanding Adjustment and Resilience

Transitioning to college is a pivotal period of growth, marked by both opportunity and challenge. As your Blue Jay navigates academic expectations, social environments, and personal responsibilities, they experience significant developmental changes that shape their identity, confidence, and resilience. This session explores how these adjustment experiences—while often stressful—are essential parts of college student development and can foster maturity, self-awareness, and long-term well-being when met with understanding and support. This session explores common adjustment experiences for first-year and returning Blue Jays, including academic rigor, social transitions, lifestyle changes, and mental health concerns such as burnout and imposter syndrome. Families will learn strategies to promote well-being through normalizing challenges, fostering open communication, and connecting your Blue Jay to available resources.
Wednesday, December 3, 7-8pm ESTFLI Compass: What to Expect During Winter Break

Join us to engage with a panel of FLI students and staff as well as receive an overview of the resources and opportunities provided by Success Coaching in Academic Advising (SCAA) and Student Outreach and Support (SOS). Together, we’ll explore what to anticipate during the winter break and hear firsthand experiences in supporting and connecting with students during this extended time when students often return home. FLI students often highlight their families as a primary source of support; however, navigating winter break can be challenging for both families and students. When students return home after their time at college, they often bring new experiences, boundaries, and expectations. In this session, panelists will share valuable strategies and insights to help maximize the winter break as a time of rest and reconnection, providing support for students as they reach the midway point of the academic year.
