Campus Compact – Newman Civic Fellowship

Overview

Throughout the fellowship year, Campus Compact offers Newman Civic Fellows a range of opportunities for growth, skill development, and networking, both virtually and in person. These experiences are designed to help students collaborate across disciplines and use their skills to create positive change in their communities.

Fellowship Opportunities Include:

  • Regular Virtual Events focused on skill development and professional learning
  • Annual In-Person Convening of Fellows, supported by The Allstate Foundation
  • One-on-One Leadership Development with a local mentor of the Fellow’s choice
  • Connection to a Nationwide Network of engaged student leaders, both during and after the fellowship year
  • Public National Recognition
  • Special Scholarship and Career Opportunities
  • Opportunities to Present or Publish Work through Campus Compact

Deadline to be considered: Friday, December 12th

Review Process:

  • Members of the CSC staff will assess applications and determine the best candidates for formal consideration
  • Candidate should expect to hear updates within the month of February 2026
  • Formal offers will be made, and the candidates will need to formally accept before the next step
  • Formal documents will be sent to the President’s Office, who will submit the formal nomination
  • Formally nominated students should expect to hear from [Either Campus Compact or Transform Mid-Atlantic] of their formal confirmation of admission into the Fellowship along with next steps

Students will be required to share communications with the CSC and will be requested to provide additional information as necessary to publicize admission, and to collect general experiences throughout the academic year in support of the CSC’s Impact Report.

Any travel/professional development opportunities that the student is able to attend will be covered through the Center for Social Concern.

2024 Cohort

  • October 31, 2023 – Nomination Form Opens
  • March 1, 2024 – Last Day to Nominate Students
  • May/August 2024 – 2024-2025 Cohort Publicly Announced
  • September 2024 – Fellowship Orientation Begins
  • November 14-16, 2024 – Annual Convening of Newman Civic Fellows
  • May 2025 – Fellowship Ends

2025 Cohort

  • January 27, 2025 – Nomination Form Opens
  • April 25, 2025 – Last Day to Nominate Students
  • August 2025 – Newman Cohort Publicly Announced
  • September 2025 – Fellowship Orientation Begins
  • October 16-19, 2025 – Annual Convening of Newman Civic Fellows
  • May 2026 – Fellowship Ends
