Catrina Slater

Associate Director, JUMP Programming

A native of New Jersey and first-generation college graduate, Catrina earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Sociology and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University. She has spent more than 10 years in higher education gaining experience in many areas of the field. She began her career with the Educational Opportunity Fund Program at Rutgers University, a program supporting college access, persistence, and graduation of first-generation and limited-income college students. While there, Catrina served as an academic advisor supporting students of varied academic pursuits, particularly advising students pursuing careers in medicine and the health professions. Most recently, she was an Admissions and Academic Advisor at Howard Community College working with students pursuing nursing and allied health career fields.

Catrina is excited to join JHU and the JUMP community. She brings a wealth of experience working with students of diverse backgrounds, skills in academic advising, recruitment and selective admissions, student development, program planning, coordinating first-year enrollment programs, and much more. She is passionate about supporting first-generation, limited-income, and underrepresented students in achieving personal, academic, and professional success.

Outside of work, Catrina enjoys spending time with her friends and family, socializing, and exploring new and exciting things.
