Malissa Rivera
Senior Academic Advisor/Success Coach, WSE
Malissa (she/her) brings over 10 years of experience working with college students in various offices. She has worked in Residential Life, Academic Advising, Student Activities, and Service-Learning. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo where she was part of the Access Opportunity Program (AOP). This program worked with first generation/limited income students in providing holistic advising and support to their students. This experience led her to pursue a career in working with college students to help them achieve academic success. She earned her Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Buffalo which led her to Baltimore. After being inspired by her students who showed perseverance through mental health struggles, Malissa decided to pursue a Master of Science in Applied Psychology at the University of Baltimore. Her long-term goal is to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland. Malissa is consumed by wanderlust and spends her time (and money) traveling to new places with her friends. Her travel goal is to visit all 50 US States and 20 countries by the time she is 40.
