Dan Ferrara

Associate Director, Success Coaching Program in Academic Advising (WSE)

Dan Ferrara brings over twelve years of experience supporting and guiding students to his role as an Associate Director of SCAA in the Whiting School of Engineering. Dan is returning to Hopkins after over a year as an academic advisor in the STEM division at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to his departure from JHU in 2019, Dan served as an Academic Advisor in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences working closely with students in the JUMP, HOP-In, and Baltimore Scholars programs. He also brings six years of experience in the Office of Dean of Student Life supporting students through case management and other student-centered initiatives. He values the power of story sharing in building strong relationships with students and colleagues to better understand the strengths and motivations that drive them toward their goals.

Dan studied Communication and Writing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and earned a MA in Writing at the Johns Hopkins University. Growing up in a New Jersey beach town, Dan has a soft spot for boardwalks and coastal roads. He loves to travel and has been to 45 of 50 states and spent several weeks in Italy and Ireland. Dan also loves to play music, read unconventional novels, and cook things that take way too long. Mostly, Dan loves working with students to help them achieve success however they define it.
