Sage Magness-Hill

Academic Advisor/Success Coach, KSAS

Sage Magness-Hill (Them/They/Theirs) has provided high-touch, holistic student support since 2007 and brings that experience to their role as an Academic Advisor/Success Coach in KSAS. They believe access and equity must be the cornerstones of higher education.

Sage grew up in the heart of New York City and moved to the South before college. Sage was a limited-income student at Brenau University Women’s College, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. During their undergrad, Sage discovered a passion for student support services. Sage earned a Master of Arts degree in College Student Development on a Chancellor’s Fellowship at Appalachian State University. Sage served as a Residence Life Coordinator at Wake Forest University, where they oversaw all first-year residential communities, and connected with and supported first-generation and limited-income students. During that time, they were recognized as one of the 12 top advisors in 2017 by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls.

Sage joined the SCAA team in 2022, after 13 years in residence life and 3 years at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where they were the Graduate Student Experience Coordinator in the Office of Graduate Biomedical Education. While in the SOM, Sage was honored by the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Health Equity with the 2021 Achievers Award, which recognized their contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. They also were recognized as the 2022 Young Alum of the Year at Brenau University for their contributions to society.

A true Taurus, Sage enjoys snacks and naps, as well as creating art, working on their house, curating their collection of houseplants, and caring for their three animals: Dolly Rebecca Parton the dog, Zoe Washburn the cat, and Daisy Sparkle the axolotl. Most importantly, they love spending time with their wife and three children traveling, hiking, and just being outdoors. They love giving back to the Baltimore community. Currently, they serve as the Watershed Public Charter School Board of Directors President and as a barn volunteer and tour guide at Days End Farm and Horse Rescue. Please stop by their office in Wyman 514 to say hello!
