Tamara Harris-Coleman

Academic Advisor/Success Coach, KSAS

Tamara Harris-Coleman brings over 20 years of experience in academic and career advisement, personal counseling, and case management to her role as an Academic Advisor/Success Coach in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. Tamara’s holistic approach and focus on strengths engages and empowers students to identify and attain their goals.

A first-generation college graduate, Tamara earned a BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a master’s degree in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has served as tenured Counseling Faculty at Berkeley City College, where she provided educational and career guidance to over 10,000 California community college students representing more than 60 countries. She also led and coordinated two programs facilitating transfer from community college to four-year institutions. Earlier in her career, as an Analyst for the U.S. Government Accountability Office, she evaluated a variety of federal programs pertaining to education, workforce, and income security.

Most recently, Tamara was an Academic Program Coordinator at the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Science at the University of Baltimore, where she provided comprehensive academic advisement and administrative support for over 350 undergraduate and graduate students.
