In a talk and informal discussion, gamer and scholar Bridget Blodgett outlined the barriers women face in the gaming industry and discussed the context for the controversies surrounding women in video games. Bridget M. Blodgett is an Assistant Professor at the University of Baltimore within the Simulation and Digital Entertainment program. She graduated from Penn State University in May 2011 with a PhD from the College of Information Sciences and Technology. Her research involves the use of technology within Internet culture and virtual worlds and the social impacts of virtual worlds/Internet culture on offline life. Her current research takes more critical eye to the online game community following recent events within the online gaming community involving gender, inclusiveness, and identity.
Unlocked: The DMC Game Night

DMC members unlocked a new level of gaming at the on Saturday, March 5, 10pm-1am. Students enjoyed a classic DMC game night with Super Smash Bros, League of Legends, Mario Kart 8, Rock Band 3, FIFA 16, and much, much, more. Every major gaming system was setup for group play on big screens and projections. A bonus round with rad snacks and refreshments kept participants going late into the night.
