The lessons that I learned from my year in India are ones that I will carry with me as I advance in my medical career and personal life. While I cannot do this experience justice in one paragraph, I will attempt to provide a taste of how my Fulbright year unfolded. On a professional level, I became skilled in qualitative research, engaged in local public health initiatives, presented at a conference, published a paper, networked with other students/professionals, and participated in skills-development workshops. Outside of work, I was able to travel around India, volunteer in the community, participate in local traditions, learn about India’s rich history, become more proficient in the local language, and of course, make lifelong friends. In conclusion, I am forever grateful for this life-changing experience and would highly encourage all students to explore the Fulbright.”
