Anne McGovern, Fulbright ETA Grant, 2012–2013
Tags: 2012-2013, Anne McGovern, Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship“I honestly had no idea what I was doing when I arrived in South Korea for my Fulbright English Teaching Assistant scholarship. Not only did I not speak Korean, but I had also never taught a class in my life. I stepped into orientation wondering if it was too late to run away, and one year later boarded my plane back to the U.S. as a Korean speaker, teacher, rabid kimchi lover, and a completely changed person. I consider my Fulbright experience in Korea as the absolute best time of my life, and even now, entering into a field unrelated to teaching, I am still reaping its benefits. This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself in new ways. You never know what you’re capable of until you try.”
