Jon Walter
Johns Hopkins University Student/Community Liaison
Jon serves as the JHU Student/Community Liaison and brings over 22 years of community relations experience to the University. He spent 22 years as an officer with the Baltimore Police Department, Northern District, of which 18 years were in the community relations unit fostering a partnership between the police and community. Johns Hopkins and the surrounding communities are within the Northern District. Jon’s experience in community relations helps students transition from University housing to the off-campus housing in the surrounding communities. He provides resources to the off-campus students such as loaning lawn maintenance equipment, information on the Baltimore City social host ordinance and personal safety to assist the students in fostering positive relationships in the community. Jon also teaches the Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) classes at the University.
Jon participates in the Maryland Collaborative to reduce college drinking and related problems which seek to make a measurable difference in excessive drinking and related harms among college students as a statewide public health problem.
