Duane Melzer

Director, Pep Band

Duane comes to Johns Hopkins University from The College of the Holy Cross where he was the Director of Bands. Prior to that, he served as Director of Bands at Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University, conducted ensembles at Southern Connecticut State University and Le Moyne College, and was the Assistant Director of the Central Connecticut State University Marching Band. He also worked with the Connecticut Hurricanes and Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. Additionally, he has over twenty years of experience in Student Affairs administration.

Duane has earned degrees from Charter Oak State College, Fairfield University, Boston University, and is currently completing a Doctor of Music Education (D.M.E.) degree. He also holds Connecticut teacher certification in Pre K-grade 12 music
