Nick Wood

Chef de Cuisine

Nick has been with the Hopkins Dining Team since March 2022 and he oversees the development and execution of culinary operations within our residential dining program (this includes Hopkins Café, Nolan’s on 33rd and Peabody). He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University in 2012 and became a certified Chef de Cuisine through the American Culinary Federation in 2021. Before coming to Johns Hopkins University, Nick has enjoyed his career in the hospitality industry from a line cook at national chains to working banquets at a four-diamond hotel; from bartending at a bowling alley to managing multiple locations with a customer base of 40,000 students.

Nick’s favorite part of the Hopkins Dining program is being willing and able to adapt to the needs of ourguests. As a member of the residential operations team, he gets to view and sample a lot of our recipes, so there are lots of favorite menu items to choose from. His all-time favorite menu items are our homemade fried chicken, coffee rubbed flank steak, and honey old bay wings.

Outside his roles on campus, Nick likes to travel, write, listen to hip-hop music, watch horror movies, binge watch his favorite tv shows, and above all enjoy all those items with his beautiful wife. Our Blue Jays often spend 18 years’ worth of meals with their families and just like that when they go to college, they now spend those meals with us. This is a responsibility that Nick doesn’t take lightly and everything Hopkins Dining does every day, is in service of our Blue Jays. These aren’t just Hopkins Dining’s kitchens; they are our Blue Jays’ now too.
