Catering Sous Chef

Katherine (Kat) has been a member of the Hopkins Dining team since July 2023 and supports our catering team and Executive Catering Chef Pedro Duarte, to help maintain quality and consistency of products. Kat helps train, guide and works alongside the rest of our catering team to support our clients. Kat received her bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, majoring in Culinary Management from the Philippine Womens University in 2013. She trained at The Broadmoor in Colorado and the Baltimore Country Club in Maryland. Kat’s first pastry experience was at the Lord Baltimore Hotel under a Native Chicago Pastry Chef and her first management position was at Ryleigh’s Oyster Bar. Using her pastry and management skills, she worked at the Rusty Scupper as their Pastry Chef, then promoted to their Sous Chef.

Kat’s favorite part about Hopkins Dining is learning and working with her colleagues and looking at the bigger picture, the growth of our department. Kat’s favorite food/menu item is taco salad from Levering Taco Kitchen. When she is not contributing and leading our culinary team, she loves the outdoors; hiking, traveling and food hunting (finding good places to eat). If she is stuck inside some of her favorite hobbies include meal prepping, baking, being lazy in bed watching k-dramas.
