Summer 2024 Bucket List

Summer is coming and you have a short 14 weeks until Fall classes begin again. Take the time to enjoy it, it flies by. Here are some bucket list items to try during your break:

 

1.) Try a fun new hobby. Whether it is something that can relate to your future career goals or just something for fun, you’ve been interested in.

2.) Work a summer job. if you have some free time, why not make some extra money and get a summer job. Depending on where you are for summer or if you are back home, many places hire for the summer when students are home on break or when grade schools are out for summer!

3.) Catch up on recreational reading. During the semester you have to much reading and studying for classes you might miss your favorite new book release are adding another book to your roster. Take this break to enjoy a book.

4.) Explore a career. Take time to explore some of your different career options if you aren’t sure yet what to do after college. It is okay to still not know. Check out JHU’s Life Design Lab for more information on career advancement or learn different options.

5.) Fix up your résumé. On the same topic of the Life Design Lab, make sure you take time to update your resume you never know when you might need it and could network over the summer.

6.) Disconnect and get outside! During the academic year you are in front of your computer a lot, so take time in the summer to enjoy the nice weather and get outside go for a walk, ride a bike, go for a longer hike!

7.) Travel and learn from a different culture. College breaks are the best for traveling and getting abroad before you get too busy and work full-time after graduation or go to grad school. Take the time if you can immerse yourself into different cultures and backgrounds.

8.) Start a blog or vlog. Everyone these days documents everything from what they ate that do to who they hung out with. Take

9.) Get in the kitchen. We are Hopkins Dining of course we want you to dabble in the culinary arts. Have some fun, take a cooking class or watch some YouTube videos on cooking and make a meal for your friends and family. You could even include your friends and family in cooking together!

10.) Take some time for you. Take a breather, do something that interests you. Your mental health and physical health are so important. It is your summer, and they go by so fast so make the summer about you!
