Student Leadership and Development Coordinator
Nairuti Shastry is the Student Leadership and Development Coordinator at the Center for Social Concern where she provides support to initiatives that enrich the relationship between Hopkins and the larger Baltimore community. More specifically, her portfolio encompasses event-based service programming (including the President’s Day of Service), student-led individualized direct service programs (i.e. Baltimore First), and service recognition initiatives that build a culture of active citizenship on and beyond the Hopkins campus (e.g. HopServe50).
Previously, Nairuti worked as a Community Impact Fellow at Break Away, the national non-profit supporting quality alternative break programs, where she strengthened her skills as a social justice educator and community partnership development specialist. With a background in community-based research, advocacy work, and program coordination & event planning, Nairuti joins the CSC with a steadfast commitment to restorative justice and collective liberation.
Nairuti is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of William and Mary, where she earned her B.A. in Sociology, French & Francophone Studies, and Public Health in 2017. Outside of her work at the Center for Social Concern, Nairuti enjoys long walks in the Maryland sunshine and a cappella music.
