About the GAC
The Gender Affirming Closet (GAC) was established as a part of the 2023 Diversity Innovation Grant Cycle. Dr. Abbey Nawrocki, Associate Director of Gender & Sexuality Resources, and Erin Fox, Sr. Manager, Strategic Initiatives put forth the proposal, which was accepted for funding in January 2023. The main focus of the GAC is to provide students with an opportunity to explore their gender expression in ways that may otherwise be inaccessible to them due to un-affirming environments and access to adequate funds. However, the GAC and related resources are available to all Hopkins affiliates. The GAC project will include:
- Purchase of new clothing, cosmetics, binders, etc. to be given at no cost
- Opportunity to request funding for the purchase of an outfit/item/tailoring service, etc.
- Hopkins GAC clothing drive (see below for details)
- GAC launch reception (see below for details)
Important Events
GAC Clothing Drive
We’ll be collecting donations as part of our GAC Clothing Drive from February 20 to March 10, 2023.
List of Accepted Donations
New or gently used clothing for all genders, including:
- Professional wear
- Formal wear
- Shoes
- Accessories
- Casual wear
We’ve established point people at each campus to help us coordinate drop offs. Click on your campus to get information about where to make a donation!

Donations can be dropped off at Liz’s office, MP6-N504. Liz is in the office most days but if you want to ensure she’ll be in her office, please reach out.

There are several ways for our partners to support this project!
