Interactive Floor Projection System

The interactive projection system prototype displays images on the floor that are responsive to the movement of people through the environment. The movement of the objects on the floor triggers different animations that “follow” the person, creating an interactive experience with the students.

The team leveraged a Java API endpoint developed by TUIO.org to to develop a software interface with the Microsoft Kinect. The interface asynchronously updates the program which is responsible for rendering the images to be shown by the projector. During the time between each frame, our program gathers information regarding the movements of tracked objects and updates the image as needed.
