Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards

The Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards recognize excellence in leadership, philanthropy, community service and academic achievement among the Greek community at Johns Hopkins. To be eligible for organizational awards, chapters/organizations must complete the Congruence Assessment Program and have no current sanctions against them. Individual members are eligible for individual awards regardless of their organization’s status.

Organizational Awards

Organizations from all three councils as well as independent groups (not associated with councils) are eligible to win awards in this category. Each council will have one winner in each category, which means there will be as many as four winners per award including independent groups. Councils are not guaranteed to have winners in each category based on submissions.

Excellence in Community Service

This award recognizes organizations demonstrating the greatest commitment to the ideal of service to the others and the community.

Excellence in Philanthropy

This award recognizes organizations demonstrating the greatest commitment to the ideal of philanthropic giving.

Excellence in Campus Involvement

This award recognizes organizations demonstrating the greatest commitment to engaging in campus activities and participation in the greater campus community.

Excellence in Educational Programming

This award recognizes organizations demonstrating the greatest commitment to educating members and the community on relevant topics.

Executive Board of the Year

This award recognizes an Executive Board embodying values congruence, leadership, and success in managing the operations of the organization.

Council Officer/Delegate of the Year

This award recognizes a Council Executive Board member or Council Delegate from each council that demonstrates the greatest commitment to relationship building within their council and collaboration across councils.

Most Improved Chapter

This award recognizes the organization that has made the largest improvement over the course of the year.


Individual Awards

Only one individual from the entire Fraternity and Sorority Life community can win each award in this category.

Woman of the Year

This award recognizes a woman in the Fraternity and Sorority Life community who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in her organization, council, and/or the greater community. Information encompassing the totality of the individual’s undergraduate career will be considered in determining the recipient of this award.

Man of the Year

This award recognizes a man in the Fraternity and Sorority Life community who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in his organization, council, and/or the greater community. Information encompassing the totality of the individual’s undergraduate career will be considered in determining the recipient of this award.

Senior Leadership and Campus Activities Award (Woman and Man)

This award recognizes the senior who has given most selflessly of their time to campus activities, their organization, the Fraternity and Sorority Life community, and/or the Johns Hopkins community with emphasis on leadership and co-curricular engagement.

Senior Academic Excellence Award (Woman and Man)

This award recognizes the senior fraternity and sorority member who has demonstrated academic excellence.

Advisor of the Year

This award recognizes the advisor, whether that be on- or off-campus, who has provided the greatest support for their undergraduate chapter at Johns Hopkins.
