Practice Leadership

Leadership, Engagement and Experiential Development offers three opportunities for older undergraduates to gather, give back to the Johns Hopkins community, and continue to refine their knowledge and skills as they begin to think about life after college. The application process for these experiences is competitive and involve an ongoing time commitment.

Student Leadership Consultants

The Student Leadership Consultants lie at the center of leadership development at Johns Hopkins. This group of upperclassmen is selected by staff in the Office of the Dean Student Life to serve as a resource for their peers across campus through hosting regular consultation hours in Leadership, Engagement and Experiential Development, assisting with the Emerging Leaders Cohort, planning student organization workshops, and coordinating the 1876 and Homewood Leadership Weekends. Rising Juniors and Seniors are selected for the Student Leadership Consultants in the fall semester prior to their yearlong term and trained in the spring semester. SLC members receive financial compensation and ongoing professional development for their services to the campus community.

Please review the job postings on the University Experiential Learning website under Position Number 10750. To be considered, applicants must also complete a supplemental application on Hopkins Groups. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Omicron Delta Kappa

Founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, Omicron Delta Kappa is one of the oldest and most prestigious national honor societies in the United States. Members of ODK must have demonstrated exceptional accomplishment in at least one of five areas: scholarship; athletics; campus, community, and spiritual involvement; journalism, speech, and the mass media; and the creative and performing arts. Current juniors are nominated to join this group for their senior year.
