Ordering an Official Transcript
Submit requests for official transcripts online through the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), an authorized agent of Johns Hopkins University. We strongly encourage using electronic transcripts and verifications in lieu of paper. All transcript orders require your signed consent. For transcript requests for the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering (including AAP, and EP), please select Johns Hopkins Arts, Sciences, and Engineering student classification and specify all schools attended, degrees and attendance dates as required.
**PLEASE ALLOW 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS PROCESSING TIME FOR ALL NON-RUSH TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS (excluding holidays, closures and weekends)**
ELECTRONIC TRANSCRIPT REQUEST
Electronic Transcripts can be ordered through the National Student Clearinghouse. Transcripts are sent securely through the National Student Clearinghouse in a PDF format via email and expire after 30 days. There is a fee for this service. Electronic Transcript requests will be processed within 7-10 business days. Rush Electronic Transcript orders will be processed within 1 business day. Expedited transcript request processing will not be processed without a Rush request.
PAPER TRANSCRIPT REQUEST
Paper transcripts can be ordered through the National Student Clearinghouse. There is a fee for this service. Paper transcript requests will be mailed through standard USPS courier service unless otherwise specified. Paper Transcript requests will be processed within 7-10 business days. Rush paper transcript requests will be processed within 1 business day. *Please allow time for courier service processing. *
Please note that while the National Student Clearinghouse provides online ordering 24/7, it functions in partnership with Johns Hopkins University and does not process or upload transcript orders. The Office of the Registrar for the schools of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering fulfills transcript orders during normal business hours Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. All transcripts are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
TEXT-TO-SPEECH TOOL FEATURE
Read Out Loud is a Text-to-Speech (TTS) tool that is built into Adobe Reader. It reads text contained within a document window.
To use Read Out Loud, you need Adobe Reader and a Text-to-Speech engine installed on your system. Also the document must be accessible, otherwise it may not be read at all or it may be read in the wrong order.
To activate Read Out Loud:
- On the View menu, choose Read Out Loud > Activate Read Out Loud.
- Again go to View > Read Out Loud and then choose an appropriate option for reading.
- To read the current page, choose Read This Page Only.
- To read the entire document, choose Read To End of Document.

- For all escalations inside the window of 7-10 business days, please order a rush transcript via the National Student Clearinghouse.
“How do I request a transcript as an alumnus without access to self-service?”
- Transcripts can be ordered directly through the National Student Clearinghouse website. You will not need to login via self-service.
“How can I obtain an unofficial transcript?”
- Unofficial transcripts are only available to current students. They may be downloaded via SIS Self-Service.
“What situations that will prevent the office from issuing a transcript?”
- No signed consent received with request.
- A serious academic and/or disciplinary matter that remains unresolved.
- Insufficient payment for special services.
“How do I obtain a transcript from the former School of Professional Studies in Business and Education?”
- We no longer handle Carey Business School or School of Education transcripts. You must contact each school directly to obtain a transcript.
“How do I order a transcript as a pre-college student at JHU?”
- If you are a Summer Programs student, including Engineering Innovations, you should choose the “undergraduate” transcript request under Arts & Sciences and Engineering.
