Tabata is a whole-body, hard-hitting work out crammed into 4 minutes of “work time” with a dynamic warm up to ease us into the intervals.
We will generally follow the an equation: 20/10 x 8 = 4.
20 seconds of work
10 seconds of rest
8 rounds performed
The sum of the equation equals four minutes of the highest intensity work you can manage, allowing you to improve your aerobic fitness and endurance in the most time–efficient way possible!
This technique was developed by scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo. The workouts provided are often heavy in plyometrics, however, modifications can be offered to make the workout suitable for all levels.
