Winter Break Housing Registration

All students must fill out the Winter Break Housing Registration on the Housing Portal.

All residents are required to indicate their housing intentions for the break using the form below by 5:00pm on Monday, December 11th.

Students who do not complete the registration by the deadline risk having their J-Card access turned off during the break.

To submit the Winter Break Housing Registration, students must:

• Sign in on the Housing Portal.
• Select “Services & Forms” on the blue navigation bar.
• Select “Winter Break Housing Registration”.
• Select “Start Form” and follow the instructions on the page to submit the Winter Break Housing Registration.

Students will have until 5:00PM (EST) Monday, December 11th to fill out the Winter Break Housing Registration. All students must fill out the Winter Break Housing Registration to inform On-Campus Living on their housing intention for Winter Recess. The Winter Break Housing Registration Form will be live on Housing Portal at 10:00am (EST) November 27th.

Before Leaving Campus, make sure to:

• Lock all doors, all windows, close the blinds.
• Dispose of all open food, empty all trash, and discard perishables using the trash rooms.
• Clean out your refrigerator.
• Clean and vacuum bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and shared common spaces; floors should be free of clutter and food should be stored in air-tight containers.
• Lock your door(s) and take your keys & J-Card with you.
• Help to conserve energy!
  • Turn off lights, unplug all electrical devices (stereos, extension cords, chargers, televisions and computers) excluding refrigerators, and adjust the thermostat to a low-heat setting.
• Securely store any valuables that you are not taking with you like laptops, iPads, or jewelry.
• Pick up any packages & check your mailbox.
• Notify On-Campus Living & the university of any decisions not to return in the spring (scroll for more information).
• Unplug all electronics and appliances, EXCLUDING refrigerators!
• Set thermostat to a low heat setting (around 70 degrees)
• Turn all lights off!

Spring 2024 Return

Since the residence halls are not closing for break, students will continue to have access to their housing assignments. Intersession begins on Tuesday, January 2^nd. On-Campus Living offices will be closed from 12pm on Friday, December 22^nd, 2023, through Monday, January 1^st, 2024. Offices will open at 8:30am on Tuesday, January 2^nd.

Not Returning for the Spring?

If you are not planning to return to campus in the spring and you have not already done so, please follow the below steps to complete and submit an action form via the Housing Portal by Friday, December 8th. The Action Form will be live on the Housing Portal at 10:00am (EST) November 27th.

1. Log into the Housing Portal
2. Click on the “Services & Forms” button on the blue navigation bar.
3. Select “Action Form” from the list of Services and Forms.

Students who are not returning for the Spring 2024 should plan to vacate their housing assignment by later than 3:00pm on Friday, January 5^th, 2024, and return their keys to the On-Campus Living office (Wolman 103).

Students not returning in the spring are strongly encouraged to take their belongings with them when they leave campus for winter break to avoid being charged for the spring semester.

Please note that billing for the spring semester will begin on Saturday, January 6, 2024. You should vacate no later than Friday, January 5th to avoid charges for spring housing. If you leave on January 6th or later, you will be charged for spring semester housing, and prorated until the date we receive your keys.

2023-2024 Contract Dates

For AMR I, AMR II, AMR III Building A, AMR III Building B, Bradford, Scott-Bates Commons (formerly Charles Commons), Homewood, McCoy, Rogers House, and Wolman

This housing contract grants a license to the Student for room accommodations for the period (“The Term”) beginning on the day before the first day of Classes for the 2023 Fall Semester and continuing throughout the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering academic year, ending 24 hours after the student’s last final or at 12:00pm (noon) on the day after the last scheduled exam day of the finals period for the 2024 Spring Semester, whichever comes first. Earlier arrival dates shall only be approved at the sole discretion of the Housing Operations Office. Residence hall occupancy after the scheduled Exam Dates for the 2024 Spring Semester shall only be provided to residents who must be present to complete a Spring 8-Week Session II class. Residents are expected to vacate the residence halls within 24 hours of their last scheduled final exam.

For Thanksgiving Break (10:00am on Saturday, November 18, 2023 to Noon on Sunday, November 26, 2023 and Spring Break (10:00am on Saturday, March 16, 2024 to Noon on Sunday, March 24, 2024), students needing to stay on campus must indicate that in advance on the break form that is sent to students prior to the break. Dining locations will be open in a limited capacity, and residential dining will be available only to students on a meal plan. Monitored common area spaces will be closed.

For Winter Break (10:00am on Friday, December 22, 2023 to Noon on Monday, January 1, 2024), students needing to stay on campus must indicate that in advance on the break form that is sent to students prior to the break. Residential dining will be available only to students on a meal plan. Monitored common area spaces will be closed. Intersession classes begin Tuesday, January 2, 2024 and end on Friday, January 19, 2024.

The first semester billing period begins on Monday, August 28, 2023 and ends on Friday, January 5, 2024. The second semester billing period begins on Saturday, January 6, 2024 and ends on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Dining Halls will be accessible on Sunday, August 20, 2023 and board plans will begin on Sunday, August 20, 2023 and continue through the Arts and Sciences and Engineering academic year ending on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 with breakfast.
